It may sound counterintuitive, but the ultimate goal of wealth management is not to maximize the dollar value of one’s investment portfolio. Whether it’s quantifying the amount needed for financial security or how much one can afford to give to make the world a better place, the true goal is to ensure one’s portfolio works in concert with one’s personal values.

The biggest mistake I help clients avoid is making the decision to get out of the market when stocks are performing poorly. I work hard to help them see that their plan anticipates periods of negative market returns, so they can have the confidence to stick to their long-term objectives.
